2024 Scholarship Application

Awards & Eligibility

St John Baptist Church aims to financially support undergraduate students who art a part of our congregation. Eligible students will receive support for High School graduation and each subsequent undergraduate year.

Scholarship Awards*:
$750 for High School Graduates
$500 for Returning College Students

*Award disbursement in 2 increments: 50% in Fall 2024, 50% Spring 2025

Application Checklist:

2024 High School Graduates
Eligible Applicants Must:

  • Submit an Application:

    No later than Sunday, June 9th at midnight

  • Be a 2024 High School Graduate

  • Be an Active Member of SJBC

    Must be an active member of St John Baptist Church for a minimum of one year.*
    *Applicants who joined the church post-June 2022 will still be recognized with gifts at the graduate recognition ceremony.

  • Submit Acceptance Letter

    Must submit a copy of your acceptance letter from the higher education institution of your choice.
    Acceptable institutions include: two or four-year colleges/universities, trade schools, and technical colleges.

  • Submit a Typed Essay

    Must submit a typed essay between 1000 and 1500 words (prompts found below).

Recurring College Students
Eligible Applicants Must:

  • Submit an Application:

    No later than Sunday, June 9th at midnight

  • Be Continuing in Undergraduate Education

  • Be an Active Member of SJBC

    Must be an active member of St John Baptist Church for a minimum of one year.*
    *Applicants who joined the church post-June 2022 will still be recognized with gifts at the graduate recognition ceremony.

  • Submit Transcript

    Must submit a copy of your transcript (official or unofficial)), verification of enrollment for Fall 2024

  • Submit a Typed Essay

    Must submit a typed essay between 1000 and 1500 words (prompts found below).

Part V — Essay

Please choose one of the following three essay prompts, and answer in 1000-1500 words: Typed, 12 font, double-spaced, grammatically correct submissions, please. 1) Share a significant challenge you've faced and how your faith has provided you with strength and resilience to overcome it. 2) Explain how your faith motivates you to pursue your educational goals and how you plan to use your education to serve others and further your faith community. 3) In what ways do you believe technology can be utilized to create deeper connections and spiritual growth within your church community?
